Monica Kelsey is the Founder and CEO of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, a life-saving organization dedicated to ending illegal infant abandonment by providing safe, anonymous surrender options for newborns. Her mission is deeply personal.

Adopted at birth, Monica later discovered at age 37 that she had been conceived in rape and abandoned just hours after she was born. Rather than allowing that discovery to define her, she transformed it into purpose – dedicating her life to ensuring that no child is ever left in an unsafe place again.

A U.S. Navy veteran and former firefighter/paramedic, Monica combined her emergency response experience with her personal story to launch Safe Haven Baby Boxes in 2015. The organization installs climate-controlled, monitored baby boxes – typically at fire stations – where parents in crisis can safely and legally surrender their newborns.

Under her leadership, the initiative has expanded across the United States, helping save lives, supporting mothers in crisis, and raising awareness of Safe Haven laws. The organization also operates a 24-hour national hotline, providing immediate, confidential support to thousands of women when they need it most.

Monica is also an Amazon bestselling author of Blessed to Have Been Abandoned and an in-demand speaker who has shared her story across the United States and internationally, inspiring audiences with a message of purpose, resilience, and hope.

Through her work, Monica Kelsey has become a leading voice in the movement to protect vulnerable infants and support parents in crisis—turning her own story of abandonment into a mission that is saving lives every day.
